MONDAY, MAY 12, 2008 By Rick Pearcey In a column titled "Atheism and Child Murder," Dinesh D'Souza comments on his recent debate with Princeton ethicist and atheist Peter Singer: Some of Singer's critics call him a Nazi and compare his proposals to Hitler's schemes for eliminating the unwanted, the unfit and the disabled. But as I note in the debate, Singer is no Hitler. He doesn't want state-sponsored killings. Rather, he wants the decision to kill to be made by you and me. Instead of government-conducted genocide, Singer favors free-market homicide. Singer as an individual may or may not approve "state-sponsored killings," but his worldview nevertheless demands obedience. This is what worldviews qua worldviews do as presumed guides to living in the real world. Story continues

Dinesh D'Souza is a very smart guy, but I have a small disagreement with him on this one. I'd be shocked to find out that liberal Pete Singer didn't want abortions and other infanticide paid for by the government, which is state sponsorship. Such morally sick fiscal policy is standard practice among liberals. Barak Obama, for example, wants state paid abortions.

I was wondering that myself. quote:
qua "as, in the capacity of," 1647, from L. qua, abl. sing. fem. of qui "who," from PIE *kwo-, stem of relative and interrogative pronouns (cf. O.E. hwa "who," hwæt "what;" Goth. hvas "who;" Gk. posos "how much?"). Online Etymology Dictionary, © 2001 Douglas Harper quote:
qua Audio Help (kwā, kwä) Pronunciation Key prep. In the capacity or character of; as: The President qua head of the party mediated the dispute. [Latin quā, feminine ablative sing. of quī, who; see kwo- in Indo-European roots.] (Download Now or Buy the Book) The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition Copyright © 2006 by Houghton Mifflin Company.
