Any 78 rpm record collectors on this board?

I have a decent size collection, nothing rare or particularly valuable. I enjoy the nostalgia of it all. An inexpensive hobby for me. I pick them up here and there at garage sales and record stores.

I own a few old phonographs that play at 78 rpm. They could use replacement needles, but this is all I have when I need a 78 rpm fix. I'd love to get a new turntable that plays 78's, equipped with a proper 78 rpm stylus, but I'm sure that must be costly.

I'd love to collect early jazz and blues on 78's, but since some of these cost big money, I usually hunt for dance bands and orchestras of the 1920's. Not expensive at all. Very enjoyable, jazz flavored music evocative of the era. I have some of this music on CD, but there's something thrilling about playing the real thing.

I'd love to some day own a restored Victrola from the 1920's!

I don't expect a lot of response to this thread, but I'm sure there are at least a few old souls out there who enjoy the old records.

Blessings.

Cool. I have a hand full of 78s, but nothing to get excited about. I keep an eye out for them at thrift stores and yard sales, but like you, none of the turntables I have is equiped to play them. Maybe someday I'll stumble upon a good deal on a Victrola and be able to enjoy them.

I've been seriously thinking about it.
